The M-FRG-KT FROG kit is based on the setup used in Newport Application Note 33 - Amplitude and Phase Characterization of Ultrashort Laser Pulses which describes the technique known as frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG). FROG is a technique that can be employed in a variety of experimental geometries. M-FRG-KT can be configured for two of these geometries: self-diffraction (SD FROG) for ultrafast amplified systems and second harmonic (SHG FROG) for ultrafast oscillators. The standard M-FRG-KT is optimized for Ti:Sapphire amplifiers centered at 800 nm or Ti:Sapphire oscillators covering 700-950 nm. For customers planning to use the standard kit with an ultrafast oscillator, please also order Newport part number 90015087, a mounted BBO crystal covering 700-2000 nm inputs, used to generate the second harmonic in the SHG FROG configuration. Custom versions can be configured over varying wavelength ranges between 400-2000 nm. No spectrometer is included in the standard kit, but can be included in a custom version. The data acquisition and display software included with this product has been tested in the experimental setup described in the application note. It will work only with specific spectrometers. Third-party freeware software is available for interpretation and analysis of complex FROG traces.
